Roland Schubert grew up in London, Ontario and studied photography and photo printing at Fanshawe College in the 1970s. After working as a photographer and custom printer for a decade, he and his wife opened Colour by Schubert in 1982. The lab quickly earned a reputation for producing museum‑quality colour prints for artists and institutions across Canada and eventually embraced digital technology. Schubert continues to work as a professional photographer and master printer, supporting other artists and donating his services to community fundraisers. His distinctive personal style and his documentary photographs capture the texture of London’s streets and the personalities of its artists.
