Ida Baptiste
Ida Baptiste Kramer is a visual artist and Ojibwe language teacher originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She studied fine art at Fanshawe College and H.B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Native Studies from Trent University in 2004. Kramer has been an Ojibwe language instructor at Kendaaswin Elementary School in Rama, Ontario since 2001. Her paintings and beadwork have been described as potent and vibrant, expressing a personal poetic narrative that speaks to resilience and cultural continuity. She also beads and makes regalia for traditional ceremonies. Through both her art and teaching, Kramer helps to preserve Anishinaabe language and culture for future generations.
