During the Second World War she worked for the BBC and MI5 before emigrating to Canada in 1947 with her husband. Settling in London, Ontario, she attended art classes at the H.B. Beal Secondary School and became an active member of the Western Art League and Gallery Painting Group. Clarke painted landscapes, still\u2011lifes and local street scenes with a delicate, impressionistic touch.
