He graduated from the Ontario College of Art and later taught stop\u2011motion animation at the Gallery of Stratford and sculpture at Western University. Over a career spanning decades he curated exhibitions such as Tom Benner\u2019s \u2018The Coves\u2019 (1987) and Christopher Dewdney\u2019s \u2018Landscape Reading\u2019 (1990) and presented his own works at the Embassy Cultural House. Mitchell often repurposes found objects, electronics and natural materials to investigate perception and the tension between technology and nature.
