Our vision is to create an inclusive community where every language has a voice. To this end, we prepare bilingual participants to enter the field of community interpreting with the knowledge, skills, and ethical practices required for competent and recognized work in this unregulated profession in Canada.
Our agency was established 33 years ago with great passion and dedication of those who recognized the need. They decided to start construction of a bridge that reaches across cultures and languages. Today it is a strong and solid bridge that reaches far.
The first training program graduated approximately 25 Cultural Interpreters, some of whom are still working with us today and in October of that year, we had our first assignment at Women’s Community House, which now is called Anova.
During the course of 33 years, Across Languages has developed and become recognized as an organization playing a vital part in our local community and a leader in the provincial and national field of community interpretation.
We look forward to working with you and helping you bridge the language gap with your clients.
